I steadily improved plan review / permit wait times and increased office production by twenty percent under my watch.

Hillsborough Co. PGM/DSD (Tampa, Fl) — Plans Examiner / Permit Clerk, 1/98 to 4/02 

I effectively worked with zoning, flood mitigation, and natural resources to implement measures to streamline the permitting process. I successfully mitigated stalled permit applications by explaining the issues and providing acceptable alternatives to consider. I created a pay study that resulted in a 28% pay increase for the building department plans examiners.

 

 

Highlights

Managed and meet budget for the lot acquisitions, construction and sales of 57 plus infill home projects and 7 residential addition projects.

 

·  Obtained a Hillsborough County EPC permit for constructing on a Historic Landfill with a plan for lot clean-up and a special foundation designed to allow gases escape.

·  Resolved a Floodway issue in Manatee County buy negotiating the use of a dry stacked block landscape wall to ensure that street drainage would drain to an approved drainage canal on the corner of the lot which also was considered a FEMA floodway.

·  I have resolved many land use issues form variances to lot splits, removal of grand trees, change of land use and historic design review

I have successfully obtained permits form over 25 west central Florida jurisdictions. I have a good working relationship with the government officials in the greater Tampa Bay area.

Served as a Building Plans Examiner and reviewed both commercial and residential projects. Due to my efforts and excellent customer service skills I was promoted to interim Satellite Office Manager for the Plant City office of the Hillsborough County Building Department and was later hired as the permanent manager. I helped citizens, contractors, officials, inspectors and plans examiners in resolutions concerning the building code. I along with other county managers help teach the local industry in the Florida Building Code during its inception.
